June Star - You're Still Here

It was a late addition to a show at the Acorn Alliance, a man with a guitar passing through from Baltimore. Not even one verse into this song I knew I wanted to hear it again. Live music can be so hard to hold; I can't count the times a song at a show has evaporated as soon as it's over, dispersed like breath on a cold day. Over coffee the next morning I told Andrew that if that song wasn't spoken for yet then I wanted to find it a home on vinyl.

Sometimes these things work out. June Star graciously lent their full band arrangements to us at Future Oak and I feel like no other lathe cut has come together so beautifully. You're Still Here is an earnest love song, as most of the songs were that night. Alive with the pedal steel twang, this Baltimore outfit captures a breed of Nashville country I had previously thought extinct anymore. Almost Home captures gritty romance in such a gentle light, Grimm's voice dancing like the last leaf on an autumn tree.

This lathe cut record is limited to just 50 copies and features letterpress artwork from Katie Ford. Each comes with a coupon for digital download.
