The world of music journalism is generally a murky soup of people regurgitating opinions they heard somewhere else. At it's best it's still a sexist and cruel world where no one gets paid and everyone gets their art dissected by the skeeziest the world has to offer... Which I guess sorta mirrors the industry they cover, in a sad, sad way? The climate in online music journalism is so stagnant and disgusting that I've long since dismissed it wholesale. That was until I found The Grey Estates, which is an honest and powerful blog that showcases, not only the best in new music, but the best in humanity by cultivating a following of enlightened readers. Lauren gives me hope for a more thoughtful community of music lovers, and through her guidance I've started my reluctant submersion into the world of thought and opinion and have discovered some other like-minded blogs.
That being said, it thrills me to be able to showcase some writing I did on the dangers and the beauty of hindsight along with a curated playlist on The Grey Estates today. Being able to put my wall of words against her catalog of sweet thoughts is an honor, to say the least. If you're interested to see and hear for yourself, swing by her site and check the post here. Don't stop there, though, dig into the backlog, discover some incredibly talented acts and continue to do so into the future.
Don't get too lonesome,
